Job Description

Grade: Manager
Department: ICT
Reports To: ICT Manager


Our client is a Co-operative Union operating under the Ministry of Co-operatives and Marketing, and is fully registered under the Co-operative Societies Act, Cap 490 of the Laws of Kenya. They are looking to hire a committed and proactive ICT Security Officer to enhance the security posture of their ICT environment and safeguard the integrity of their financial systems.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Union’s ICT systems and data. This will be achieved through the implementation of robust information security frameworks, proactive threat detection and response, and strict adherence to regulatory and industry best practices.


Key Responsibilities

1. ICT Security & Compliance

  • Monitor, detect, and respond to ICT security incidents and threats.

  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.

  • Implement and enforce security controls, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with data protection laws and SACCO regulatory requirements.

  • Perform access control audits and reviews.

  • Deliver cybersecurity awareness training for SACCO staff.

2. Risk Management & Incident Response

  • Identify and evaluate potential ICT risks; recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Respond swiftly to security breaches, outages, and system failures.

  • Maintain and regularly test business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

3. ICT Operations & System Support

  • Support implementation and review of SACCO ICT systems, including core banking, mobile banking, and social media platforms.

  • Assist in the development and generation of system and user reports across departments.

  • Liaise with system vendors to coordinate integrations and introduce new features.

  • Maintain communication infrastructure through routine checks and updates.

4. Strategic & Project Support

  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, tools, and technologies.

  • Contribute to ICT strategy development and participate in system improvement projects.


Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • At least one professional certification: CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, CISM, or CISA (mandatory).

  • Additional training in Networking, Systems Administration, or SACCO-specific systems is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in information security or ICT support, preferably within the financial services or SACCO sector.
