Salary: Ksh20,000 – Ksh30,000
Job Overview
A school in Naivasha is seeking a passionate and experienced Music Teacher to inspire a love for music across their school community. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons in general music, theory, and performance, while nurturing students’ creativity, confidence, and musical talent. This role also involves organizing musical events and performances that showcase learners’ growth and enrich school life.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver creative lesson plans in music theory, general music, and instrumental/choral instruction.
- Assess, track, and provide feedback on student progress in rhythm, pitch, and performance skills.
- Organize and lead musical performances, concerts, and assemblies to highlight student achievements.
- Create a supportive, inclusive classroom that fosters creativity, respect, and collaboration.
- Work with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects incorporating music into wider learning.
- Support extracurricular opportunities such as choirs, school band, or music clubs.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians on student progress and achievements.
- Stay updated on best practices in music education and integrate modern teaching approaches.
- Contribute to wider school life, including co-curricular and community initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music, or related field (Master’s or teaching credential an advantage).
- Recognized teaching qualification; TSC registration preferred.
- Proficiency in at least one instrument (multi-instrumental ability is an advantage).
- Previous experience teaching music at primary and/or secondary level.
- Experience in leading choirs, ensembles, or school bands highly desirable.
- Knowledge of CBC and/or Cambridge curriculum is an advantage.
