CLINICAL PHARMACIST: REF/TNH/CP/04/21: (PERMANENT TERMS)
Reporting to the Team Leader – Pharmacy, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following amongst others:
- Ensure compliance with professional and legal practice and standard operating procedures
- Fill prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients
- Attend ward rounds and participate in multidisciplinary patient care.
- Conduct drug utilization reviews and engage in clinical and operational research.
- Undertaking clinical checks on all treatment sheets and prescriptions for suitability of treatment.
- Monitor drug therapy and carry out clinical pharmacy interventions for both inpatients and outpatients in liaison with the patient care team.
- Reporting, Monitoring and analysis of medication errors, adverse drug reactions and other quality and patient safety indicators
- Carry out medication use counselling and adherence monitoring for patients on chronic treatment.
- Prepare & submit clinical and management reports
- Ensure institutional compliance with antibiotic stewardship guidelines restrictions
- Undertake medication reconciliation during patient admission and discharge.
- Participate and supervise staff in sterile compounding, chemotherapy reconstitution and extemporaneous preparations.
- Provide information and education on drugs and medication therapy to patients, healthcare workers and other hospital personnel
- To prepare articles on important medication-related updates for publication in the hospital newsletter and patient education leaflets.
- To keep close contact with the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya, the Ministry of Health and other professional bodies ensuring that the department is kept abreast with all new developments in the pharmaceutical field.
- Conduct continuous professional development sessions for pharmacy staff
- Serve as an active member in appointed hospital committees and process improvement action teams.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Masters in Clinical Pharmacy
- Registration with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- Experience of 3 – 4 years after Masters in Clinical Pharmacy.
- Possession of valid annual practising license.
- Mature, well organized, reliable and shows initiative.
- Good supervisory, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Honesty, integrity and upholds confidentiality
- A team player with a problem-solving mindset.
- ICT proficiency.
IT SECURITY OFFICER: REF/TNH/ITSO/04/19 (PERMANENT TERMS)
Reporting to Manager, Security Systems the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, resolving and maintaining the Hospital’s applications, infrastructure and network security requirements in order to ensure alignment of IT security with business security needs including reviewing and assessing the Hospital’s applications.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement, support, maintain and administrate the Hospital’s IT security solutions including application, database, network and infrastructure security controls;
- Ensure that all the Hospital’s IT application systems, IT equipment and hardware and IT network security are regularly upgraded;
- Provide periodic IT Security status reports (daily, weekly, monthly etc.)
- Investigate and report on any IT security breaches and put in place the relevant actions;
- Act as a central point of contact for security issues;
- Assist in performing Business Impact Analysis (BIA);
- Participate in developing, updating, communicating and publishing the Information Security Policy other operational security policies;
- Assist in the development of security controls and security strategies;
- Ensure that the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of services are maintained at the levels agreed in the Service Level Agreements (SLAs);
- Ensure that all access to services by external partners and suppliers is subject to contractual agreements and responsibilities (e.g. non-disclosure agreements) and are closely monitored and that all changes to access are assessed for impact on all security aspects; including information security policy and controls;
- Actively identify options for reducing IT security risks within the Hospital;
- Identify and classify IT and information assets and the level of control and protection required for assets based on their classification;
- Perform security risk analysis and risk management in coordination with Risk and IT Service Continuity Management functions.
- Promote awareness of IT security across the Hospital;
- Perform security tests (e.g. network vulnerability tests);
- Provide the Hospital’s staff with the correct IT access and monitor IT access for compliance to the Hospital’s policies;
- Assist in the development and testing of the Hospital’s Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs);
- Create manage user profiles, adds and deletes access rights and perform related profile maintenance and password control activities;
- Manage network security breaches, providing containment solutions, communications to management, and developing stop-gap methodologies across the Hospital;
- Monitor the Hospital’s IT network data to ensure the prevention of incidents that negatively impact confidentiality, availability, and integrity of the Hospital’s IT network;
- Ensure the security of the Hospital’s infrastructure network including servers (e-mail, print, and backup servers), and other IT infrastructure;
- Investigate and report on any IT network security breaches and put in place the relevant actions;
- Actively identify options for reducing IT network security risks within the Hospital; and
- Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or any other related field from a recognized institution.
- Professional ICT qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years IT experience.
DATA ANALYTICS OFFICER: REF/TNH/DAO/04/19 (PERMANENT TERMS)
Reporting to Manager, Security Systems the successful candidate will be responsible in ensuring that the Hospital leverages and capitalizes on big data and its various applications to improve and drive the quality of health care and patient experience in line with the Hospital’s objectives.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of data, data structure and analytical tools to research or identify trends, expenditures, and utilization of patients’ healthcare needs;
- Respond to requests for data by determining user’s needs, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, and providing accurate and complete reports and information;
- Gather and interpret data from a variety of sources such as billing claims, cost reports, and patient satisfaction surveys to help the Hospital to improve the quality of care, lower the cost of care, and enhance the patient experience;
- Identify, develop and implement methods and techniques for improving reporting efficiency in the department;
- Check and audit various data sources to ensure data adheres to data governance and maintenance policies;
- Maintain and apply knowledge of current trends, practices and developments in the health care sector;
- Educate and assist in problem-solving to promote the implementation of the health care initiatives and research;
- Suggest ways to both increase healthcare quality and reduce costs;
- Contribute to data integrity, governance, and data structure standards and policies;
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA, Confidentiality and Privacy laws; and
- Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering Health Informatics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Mathematics or any other related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years IT experience preferably in data analytics.
ASSISTANT ENGINEER – BIOMEDICAL: REF/TNH/AEB/04/19 (PERMANENT TERMS)
Reporting to Hospital Engineer – Biomedical, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring proper functioning, safety and sound condition of all medical equipment in the Hospital and that they are in optimum working condition and available for use at all times amongst the following other responsibilities;
- Ensure all bio-medical equipment are included on the equipment master list for scheduled maintenance and calibration.
- Support the Hospital Engineer – Biomedical, to review and update the quality standards for preventive maintenance and checks that are regularly conducted on biomedical equipment to comply with changing industry requirements.
- Ensure that preventive maintenance and repairs of bio-medical equipment are conducted within the established quality standards, procedures and time.
- Ensure continuous training of Bio-medical equipment users and ensure safe machine handling.
- Ensure calibration of biomedical equipment is done in time and documented.
- Ability to maintain dialysis equipment.
- Ensure team observance and compliance with environmental health and occupational safety measures and regulations.
- Carry out staff supervision including work scheduling and execution.
- Supervise handling and being in charge of any works related to various biomedical equipment.
- To evaluate the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of medical equipment, report and implement recommendations.
- Identify gaps and risks in biomedical equipment and share with the head of the department for execution.
- Supervise outpatient centres and ensuring medical equipment are maintained as per hospital standards.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 4 years experience, in a maintenance function in a busy hospital industry.
- Demonstrated experience in Maintenance management.
- Excellent organizational, decision-making and planning skills.
- Good interpersonal and customer relation skills.
- Computer literacy skills with demonstrated knowledge
BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST REF: TNH/HRD/BMT/04/2021 (CONTRACT TERMS)
Reporting to the Asst. Hospital Engineer- Biomedical, the Bio-Medical technologist is responsible for ensuring proper functioning, safety and sound condition of all medical equipment and that they are in optimum maintenance condition and available for use.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive maintenance, repairs to ICU, Theatres, Renal, Laboratory, Physical Medicine, wards equipment and other areas of the Hospital.
- Carry out preventive maintenance, repairs to all equipment and items of plant assigned to him from time to time by the Assistant Hospital Engineer Biomed.
- Keep records of all job cards, PPM schedules and tasks as performed.
- Handle all biomedical equipment job requests
- Carry out any other duties assigned by management from time to time
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Diploma in Medical Engineering
- Minimum KSCE grade C
- At least 2 years experience in the same field.
- Experience in the hospital industry is an added advantage.
SECURITY CONTROLLERS REF: TNH/HRD/SC/04/2021 (CONTRACT TERMS)
Reporting to the Senior Security Officer-Technical Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the overall security of The Nairobi Hospital and Outpatient Centres, clients, and personnel.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Offering protective and communications support for The Nairobi Hospital Operations by effective manning of the Control Room.
- Monitoring all Electronic Security systems installed over irregularities (such as security breach, possible threats, abandoned items, fire hazards, equipment malfunctions, and unlocked security doors among others) and report incidents.
- Monitoring, maintaining and archiving CCTV video footage and other security systems data and retrieval in case of incident occurrences and investigation/analysis requirements.
- Managing access control systems and credentials by issuing access cards/passes and other arrangements to authorized visitors upon approval by the security supervisor and keep such records.
- Observing and reporting suspects or incidents to the defined authorities and initiate an incident response by use of radio or other communication channels.
- Monitoring intruder alarm systems, closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems and liaise with response units to attend to raised alarms.
- Act as custodians of Control Room equipment and monitoring their operational readiness together with all other Security and communication equipment.
- Controlling room data storage, handling and management as per procedures and policies ensuring security and confidentiality is maintained.
- Continuously monitoring and follow up with current broadcast news and inform the TNH staff through the Security Management team on any risky occurrences which may affect their duty or safety both locally and globally.
- Any other duty may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Diploma or a Degree in Security Management/social sciences/information science.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Training in CCTV monitoring and Control room activities
- At least two years experience of working in a busy control room environment. Security background in handling security operations will be an added advantage.
- Medically and physically fit with excellent observation skills, good hearing and vision.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills, both spoken and written, fluent in English and Kiswahili.
- Keen attention to details and meticulous with record keeping.
- Ability to work under pressure for extended hours.
- Highly disciplined and of impeccable character.
FRONT OFFICE ASSISTANTS REF: TNH/HRD/FOA/04/2021 (CONTRACT TERMS)
Reporting to the Credit Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth flow of patient journey from admission to discharge.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Registration and Booking Management
- Registration of patients in the Kranium System
- Advance booking of the patient in Clinics before the appointment date where applicable.
- Ensuring services are rendered to bonafide corporate scheme beneficiaries.
- Validating corporate patients ensuring correct documentation is given and properly filed and liaising with insurance companies regarding pre-authorization.
- Integration of inpatient records, outpatient records and outpatient centres patient records.
- Billing & Authorization
- Billing of the patient.
- Receiving and receipt of correctly fund as per the source document.
- Processing patient admission liaising with the Nurse for bed allocation and admitting Doctor.
- Seeking authorization for emergency admission.
- Ensuring all claim forms are signed by the Doctor and attached to the invoices then forwarded to the Senior Cashier at the end of a shift.
- Dropping funds receipted onto the drop-in safe, when applicable.
- Banking all receipts with Chief Cashier.
- Inventory Management.
- Customer Care
- Ensuring consistency on the customer care standards and telephone etiquette are maintained at all times.
- Establishing an accurate, honest and positive relationship with internal and external customer.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- CPA Part 2 or Diploma in Front Office Operations
- At least one (1) year of experience
- Good working knowledge of Ms Excel.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent customer care skills.
- Basic Life Support.
