Location: Ngong Road, Nairobi, Kenya.
Overview:
We are seeking a service-oriented and experienced School Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional communication skills in English, hold a valid driver’s license specifically for operating school buses, and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant driving experience. The primary responsibility of this role is to transport students to and from school safely while maintaining a secure and comfortable environment. Preferred qualifications include prior experience as a school bus driver, familiarity with international schools and working with children, extensive knowledge of Nairobi’s traffic routes, and a commitment to safety and security measures.
Responsibilities:
- Safe Transportation: Safely transport students to and from school, ensuring strict adherence to traffic rules and safety protocols.
- Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with school staff, parents, and students to provide updates and ensure a smooth transportation process.
- International School Experience: Utilize prior experience working in an international school environment to understand and meet the needs of diverse students and their families.
- Local Knowledge: Demonstrate excellent knowledge of Nairobi’s traffic patterns, alternative routes, and local areas to optimize travel time and avoid congestion.
- First Aid and Safety: Possess certification or training in First Aid to promptly respond to emergencies, prioritize student safety, and address medical situations effectively.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and basic maintenance of buses and vehicles to ensure they are in optimal working condition and report any issues promptly.
- Security Measures: Implement and enforce security measures on buses to maintain a safe environment for all students during transit.
- Problem Solving: Exhibit strong problem-solving skills to address unexpected situations and emergencies effectively.
- Punctuality and Reliability: Maintain punctuality and reliability in transporting students, following a consistent schedule, and being available for additional assignments as needed.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant driving experience.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Valid driver’s license specifically for operating school buses (not just PSV).
- Preferred experience as a school bus driver.
- Experience working in international schools and with children.
- Extensive local knowledge of Nairobi’s traffic and areas.
- Certification or training in First Aid.
- Strong understanding of security and safety measures.
- Proficiency in vehicle maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Punctual and reliable work ethic.
