Our client is an early-stage start-up at the forefront of the e-mobility revolution sweeping across Africa. They are leading the charge to enable the mass adoption of Affordable, Reliable, and Clean transportation. This is based on their market-leading battery-as-a-service infrastructure solution that is driving the transition to clean two and three-wheel mobility systems in Africa. They are seeking to hire an experienced Technology Lead to join their existing passionate and talented team in Nairobi, Kenya.
As the Technology Lead you will report to the Chief Technology Officer, managing a growing team of developers and driving the development of their software, systems and data processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and partners to design and deliver solutions that are performant, scalable and secure. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and hands-on experience of various technologies, including software engineering, data engineering, data science/analytics and Cloud architecture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading the design and development of our software, systems and data processes through both project management and hands-on development.
- Ensuring solutions are developed and maintained to a high standard using best practices.
- Generating ideas to drive the business forward using technology and data.
- Providing technical leadership and staying up to date with emerging trends and technologies.
- Mentoring junior members of the team and assisting with technical challenges.
- Hiring new members of the team.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- 10+ years of professional hands-on experience in technology roles, which should include some experience of software and data engineering, data analytics and cloud computing.
- Significant hands-on experience of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Proficient in Python, JavaScript and SQL.
- Familiar with common development tools such as Git and Docker.
- Experience of leading large and complex projects.
- Experience of leading a technology team.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or similar field.
- Hands-on experience of additional programming languages.
- Data science / machine learning.
- Cloud architecture.
- Big data solutions.
- Frameworks such as Angular, React, Django.
- ERP experience.
- Mobile app development.
